Additional unique material about Newton’s career is in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, where Newton was employed from 1974 until 1990. The Archive of the Museum of Primitive Art contains correspondence, photographs, and primary information in various media, regarding Newton’s activities as Curator and Director at The Museum of Primitive Art 1957-1974, and his work as Chairman of the Department at the Metropolitan Museum from 1975 – 1990.
