Dr. Webb has thirty-five years experience working as a curator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world’s premier art museums. There, in cooperation with other cultural institutions and private collections, she organized international loan exhibitions and gallery installations. She was curator for a unique photograph collection of over 150,000 images of the arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, many showing the works in traditional cultural contexts. Additionally, she supervised the creation and digital organization of an important museum archive concerning the history of The Museum of Primitive Art, including its organization, cataloging, digital imaging and preservation. Dr. Webb has been a guest curator for exhibitions and permanent installations at the Saint Louis Art Museum and The Menil Collection.
Dr. Webb provides research for works of art and prepares dossiers that include including provenance, ex-collections, published sources, exhibition history and references. She can provide on site reviews of collections of African and Oceanic art, as well as strategies for future collecting.
