Dr. Webb studied the traditional arts of Africa at Columbia University with internationally recognized experts in the field. She has curated exhibitions and written about traditional African art and photography. For The Metropolitan Museum of Art, she acquired and exhibited the work of Seydou Keita, Malick Sidibé, and other African photographers. Her groundbreaking research on the 1935 photographic portfolio of African art by Walker Evans was presented in the exhibition and publication Perfect Documents at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and in an exhibition at the Louvre.
